PLIC started in December, 2005 with the support of WFP in ten districts namely Dolpa, Humla, Jumla, Kalikot, Jajarkot, Rukum, Rolpa, Pyuthan, Dolakha and Ramechhap during the conflicting situation to provide immediate assistance to 16374 food insecure vulnerable households. Later on Concern worldwide Nepal also supported in ODOC part of the program in four district (Kalikot, Dolpa, Jumla and Jajarkot)
PLIC covered 18701 households with 1673.103 MT of rice which helped the vulnerable communities including 970 female headed, 3042 dalit households to secure food for additional 33 days on an average in 66 VDC of nine districts.
In QIP overlapped VDCs, external material and skilled labor cost was born by UNICEF and unskilled labor was born by WFP in case of school and health post construction.
The participation of females was 31.3 % (5912 out of 18,875) in FFW and 87 % (1,540 out of 1,756) in FFT. The percentage of female in representative members and executive members in User committee was also encouraging where 45.2 % (869 out of 1909) represented in user committee while 44.5 (481 out of 1080) represented in executive members of user committee.
272 Community assets were created. Out of which 37 irrigation schemes were rehabilitated, this directly helped to increase agricultural production and long term food security.
After 2007 February, the program has been continued in Rukum only upto July 2007 in collaboration of WFP and Concern
Program covered 1,235 HH through FFW & FFT with 159 MT rice helped the vulnerable communities secure food for additional 42 days on an average
