Kailash Rijal, Management graduate from Tribhuvan University, Nepal also holds a graduate degree in Rural Livelihoods and Global Change and minor in Conflict from the Institute of Social Studies (ISS 2007), The Netherlands. He is working at the capacity of Deputy Director since March 2006. At present he is basically involved in the policy and strategy development, project development, representing DEPROSC at national and international level, coordination with donors and guiding & supervising Project Coordinators.

I started in DEPROSC Nepal as one of its founder staff in 1993. Since then I have successfully led more than a dozen projects as Project Coordinator such as Hills Leasehold Forestry Project, Rural Development for Self-help Project, Livelihood Improvement Programme, Market Access for Rural Development, Women Economic Empowerment, Community Based Income Generating Project, Western Uplands Poverty Alleviation Project, Socio-economic Empowerment for Ex-Kamiyas and other Vulnerable Communities project etc. in addition to number of research and studies as Lead Researcher and Research Associates conducted by DEPROSC Nepal for various donors. As a Trainer, I have involved in training several in house and external development practitioners in the field of rural development. More importantly, I have directly been involved in scaling up and strengthening microfinance programme in DEPROSC as a Micro-credit Specialist for five years. At present, I also represent in the Board of Directors in the Deprosc Development Bank. I have also done PG Diploma in Agricultural Research for Development (ARD) from Wageningen University, The Netherlands in 2002.

I joined DEPROSC in 2001 and started my professional career from Rasuwa as a Saving & Credit Officer. In later years of my service in DEPROSC I worked in Humla for 2 years and similarly in Rukum for 2 years. I also worked in Terai region like Dhanusha, Saptari, Mahottari, Siraha, Sunsari. I have an experience in emergency relief operations and post disaster relief operations like Koshi Flood Operation 2008-2009. During my tenure in this center I have successfully been involved in various programs like DANIDA/CBIG, UNICEF/QIP, DACAW,HAPPI, WFP/EMOP,PRRO,PLIC and Koshi Food Operations and Eastern EMOP, PRRO/FSSP. BBLL, SCODEP/PAF, CBWSSP/Dolpa, USAID/EIG. FAO/EUFF. I consider, involvement in Koshi flood during and post flood relief and recovery operations is one of my best experience and challenging moment of my professional career. I completed my schooling as well as his bachelor's degree from Nainital, I got married to a girl from Nainital- India and has one year old son.

I am very fond of cooking, sketching and watching National Geographic and Discovery Channel is all time favorite during his leisure time. I also have an experience of climbing peak of 6032 mtrs in India and loves traveling and trekking. My all time favourite and inspiring lines are from famous poem of Robert Frost's 'Stopping by woods on snowing evening,.."The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
